Dental veneers in Colombia are one of the most sought-after treatments among international patients — and for good reason. Porcelain veneers can change the color, shape, size, and symmetry of your teeth with results that are genuinely stunning when done well. In Colombia, you can get that same high-quality result using premium E.max or zirconia porcelain for 60-70% less than you would pay at a cosmetic dentist in the United States, Canada, or UK.
A dental veneer is a thin shell of porcelain or composite resin that is bonded to the front surface of a tooth. Veneers can correct a wide range of cosmetic issues: discoloration that does not respond to whitening, chips and small fractures, worn or short teeth, gaps between teeth, and mild misalignment. They are not a structural restoration — they are a cosmetic overlay — but done well, they deliver a transformation that no other single treatment can match.
Porcelain veneers are the gold standard. They are fabricated in a specialized dental lab from lithium disilicate (E.max) or zirconia ceramic — materials that are extremely durable, highly stain-resistant, and virtually indistinguishable from natural enamel when properly shaded. They require minimal tooth preparation, last 10-15 years with proper care, and deliver results that photograph beautifully. These are what most of our international patients choose.
Composite veneers are applied directly to the tooth using resin material in a single appointment — no lab required. They are significantly less expensive and can be a good option for budget-conscious patients or as a temporary solution. They are less durable than porcelain (typically lasting 5-7 years) and more prone to staining over time, but in skilled hands, composite veneers can still look excellent.
Porcelain veneers in Colombia cost approximately $300-$500 USD per tooth, depending on the material and the complexity of the case. In the United States, a porcelain veneer costs $1,000-$2,500 per tooth. In the UK or Canada, expect £600-£1,500 per tooth.
A typical smile makeover covering 6-10 teeth with porcelain veneers runs $1,800-$5,000 in Colombia, versus $6,000-$25,000 in the US. For the complete price comparison, see our Cost of Dental Work in Colombia page.
Porcelain veneers typically require 2-3 appointments over 7-10 days. At the first appointment, a small amount of enamel is removed from the tooth surface (about 0.3-0.5mm) and digital impressions are taken. Temporary veneers are placed while your permanent porcelain veneers are fabricated in the lab. At the final appointment, the permanent veneers are tried in, adjusted for fit and color, and bonded. You leave with your new smile.
At Odontólogos y Sonrisas, we routinely include a digital preview step so you can approve the design before any enamel is removed. For the full process, see our How It Works page.
Are veneers permanent?
Veneers require a small amount of enamel removal, which is irreversible. The veneers themselves are not permanent — they will eventually need to be replaced after 10-15 years — but the process of having them is a permanent commitment to maintaining veneers on those teeth.
Do veneers hurt?
The preparation procedure involves local anesthesia, so there is no pain during the appointment. Some sensitivity on the prepared teeth while the temporaries are in place is normal and temporary. Most patients find the experience much easier than they expected.
Can I choose the shade of white?
Yes. We work with you to choose a shade that looks natural for your skin tone and facial features. We have shade guides and digital previews to help you choose. We always advise against going to extreme brightness — natural-looking results are our goal.
Can I combine veneers with teeth whitening?
Yes. Many patients whiten first, then we shade the veneers to match. See our Teeth Whitening Colombia page for more. This combination is also a key component of full smile design.
