If you are missing one or more teeth and want a permanent, natural-looking solution, dental implants in Colombia offer an option that is genuinely hard to refuse. The procedure is the same as what you would get in the United States or United Kingdom. The materials are from the same internationally trusted brands. The outcome, when done well, is a restoration that functions and looks like a natural tooth — for 60 to 70 percent less than you would pay back home.
Colombia has a large, highly trained implant specialist community. Implantology is a postgraduate specialty in Colombia — dentists who place implants have completed formal specialist training beyond their general dental degree. The country also has competitive pricing on implant components from brands like Straumann, Nobel Biocare, BioHorizons, and Osstem, which are the same systems used in high-end US and European practices.
The combination of well-trained specialists, quality materials, modern equipment, and significantly lower operating costs means you can get implants here that are clinically comparable to anything done in the US — at a fraction of the cost.
A single tooth dental implant in Colombia — including the titanium implant post, the abutment, and the final porcelain crown — typically runs $700-$1,200 USD. The same implant in the United States costs $3,000-$5,000, and in the United Kingdom £2,000-£3,500.
Multiple implants scale down per-unit in cost. Full arch treatments (All-on-4 or All-on-6) run approximately $5,000-$10,000 per arch in Colombia, compared to $20,000-$30,000 per arch in the US. Full mouth implant rehabilitation — both arches — can be done here for $10,000-$18,000 versus $40,000-$60,000 in the United States. Your specialist will recommend the right approach based on your bone density, number of missing teeth, budget, and treatment goals. For complex cases like full mouth restoration, we plan comprehensively before you arrive.
The implant process typically has two main phases. In the first visit, the implant post (a small titanium screw) is surgically placed into the jawbone under local anesthesia. This is far less dramatic than most people expect — it is a well-practiced procedure, and most patients report less discomfort than they anticipated. After placement, there is a healing period of 3-6 months while the implant integrates with the bone (osseointegration).
In the second phase — which can be done on the same trip if you can wait, or on a return visit — the abutment and final crown are placed. The crown is custom-fabricated to match the size, shape, and color of your surrounding teeth.
For patients who cannot return for a second trip, we can sometimes place a temporary crown at the first visit. We discuss all options during your free WhatsApp consultation before you travel. See our How It Works page for the full process.
Yes — when performed by a qualified specialist using quality materials and proper protocols. Our implantologists are board-certified specialists with postgraduate training. We use implant systems from globally accredited manufacturers. Sterilization and infection control protocols meet international standards. The same osseointegration biology that makes implants work in the US makes them work in Colombia — the procedure is the procedure, regardless of geography.
Most patients experience some swelling and mild discomfort for 3-5 days after implant placement, which is manageable with prescription pain medication. We recommend soft foods for 1-2 weeks and avoiding strenuous physical activity for a few days. The gum heals fully within 2-3 weeks. Plan to stay at least 4-5 days after the procedure before flying home.
We provide detailed written aftercare instructions and remain available on WhatsApp for questions after you return home.
How long do dental implants last?
A well-placed implant with proper care can last a lifetime. The crown portion may need replacement after 15-20 years due to normal wear, but the titanium post itself typically remains permanently integrated with the bone.
Am I a candidate for dental implants?
Most adults who are missing teeth are candidates. Adequate bone volume, healthy gums, and no uncontrolled systemic diseases are the main requirements. We can assess your suitability via WhatsApp consultation with X-rays or a CBCT scan.
Can I get implants and crowns on the same trip?
Sometimes yes (same-day or immediate loading protocols), but it depends on bone quality and quantity. In many cases, two trips are required. We will map this out clearly in your treatment plan before you commit.
What brand of implants do you use?
We use internationally accredited implant systems including Straumann, Nobel Biocare, BioHorizons, and Osstem — the same brands used in leading US and European practices.
What if the implant fails after I return home?
Implant failure rates are low (less than 5% in healthy patients) but do occasionally occur. We provide documentation of everything placed, and your local dentist can manage any complications with that information. We also remain available via WhatsApp for guidance. See our full FAQ for more on warranties and aftercare.
Which cities can I get implants in?
All nine of our locations — Bogotá, Medellín, Cali, Cartagena, Barranquilla, Bucaramanga, Pasto, Pereira, and Manizales.
